Nambu Tekki
Origin
Nambu Tekki
Iwate Prefecture, Japan
Nambu Tekki has been produced in the Iwate region of northern Japan for over 400 years.
Originally developed for tea ceremony kettles, it remains one of Japan’s most recognized cast iron traditions.
Craft
Each piece begins with molten iron poured into carefully prepared sand molds.
Once cooled, the surface is refined, treated, and finished by hand.
The casting process allows for both structural strength and subtle surface texture.
Many pieces undergo multiple finishing steps to achieve balance in weight, durability, and form.
Why We Selected It
We selected Nambu Tekki for its sense of permanence and quiet presence.
Its weight and material integrity reflect a long-standing commitment to functional design and craftsmanship.
